Cross Country Skiiing
The Lutsen area is in the heart of the North Shore XC Ski Touring system with 125 kilometers of xc ski trails nearby. There is no cost other than the Minnesota Ski Pass which is required. Lutsen Mountains has groomed trails that require a ticket. XC Ski maps are available at the lobby activities kiosk.
Dining
This area has a fabulous assortment of dining options. Both Papa Charlies and Moguls (across the road) are within walking distance. A couple minute drive gets you to fabulous lakeside dining at Lutsen Resort's lakeside historic lodge dining room or their Poplar River Pub.
Dog Sledding
Dog sled rides are available nearby. Rides vary from a quick 30 minutes to half-day. Additional information is available in the activities corner.
Downhill Skiing/ Snowboarding
Lutsen Mountains, the best downhill skiing in the Midwest, is minutes away! We recommend that you purchase your tickets and rent equipment the night before to ensure a fast track to the slopes!
Live Music & Cultural Events
A wide variety of live music, cultural events, and activities are "happening" throughout the year in the area. Some examples include the spring Jazz Fest, summer Dragon Boat Races, Fisherman's Picnic, fall Bluegrass Master's Weekend, the winter Arctic Festival, and live bands at the Lutsen Ski Area.

Snowmobiling
This is a snowmobiler’s paradise with trail access directly from the Inn parking lot. Ride The North Shore Mountains Corridor Trail, running from Duluth to near the Canadian border and the hundreds of miles of additional trails that connect and wind through the Superior National Forest.

Snowshoeing
There are some great snowshoe trails nearby. Oberg Mountain is a favorite trail-head for snowshoers. Snowshoe rentals are available in Tofte at Sawtooth Outfitters in Tofte (663-7643).
State Parks
The surrounding area has a variety of beautiful state parks with rivers cascading down to Lake Superior. Cascade State Park and Temperance State Park are close by. Stop in the lobby for maps and information.
